First Solo Flight Celebration, December 2016
First Solo Flight Celebration, December 2016

Hello guys.  I am one of the aviation enthusiasts who loves everything about aviation, including passenger service and different airports and aircraft.  I now have the privilege of working as a pilot.

My name is Sackpasert Sengvongdeuane. I’m a 34-year-old father of two angels called Boeing and Bella. I started my aviation career as a ground operations officer at Lao Airlines. There, I had the opportunity to work as a check-in officer and assistant to the load master, however, the dream that I always kept before me, was to one day become a pilot, flying the big birds!

After a few years working as check in officer,  I decided to apply for the LaoSkyway cadet program and was able to realize my dream!  I did all my training for PPL, CPL, Multi-IFR and ATPL at CAFTC. It has become my second home, a place I was able to learn and develop in training to become a good pilot. This was done under the instruction of experienced instructors from Canada, the USA, Germany and a few other places.

After flying the C208 for a few years, I did my L410 type rating in Johannesburg, South Africa with a company called AIR-TEC who are the biggest L410 operator in the world. The L410 is a twin turboprop with 19 passenger seats.

Currently I fly it for LaoSkyway serving the LXML gold mine in Sepon, Laos. Now that I have almost 2,500 hours, my next goal is to upgrade to become a captain and I really hope that one day I will be able to fly those big jets like B777, A350 or B787 somewhere in the world.

If you can dream about it then you also can make your dream come true.

My tip for the next generation: There is no shortcut or easy way in aviation. Bear in mind that if you really want to do this job, hard work is the key to success. I wish you all the best and see you somewhere in the blue sky!
